Multidirectional expanded tapes
Multidirectionally expanded PTFE tapes are used in highly demanding applications. Thanks to their multidirectional construction, the tape is creep-resistant and exhibits no expansion. Recommended for sealing devices and fittings with large sealing surfaces. The tape has a single self-adhesive side for easy installation. The material is aging-resistant, flexible, and highly chemically resistant (except for elemental fluorine and molten alkali metals).
APPLICATION:
Sealing large flange connections, flanges with significant irregularities, large pressure vessels, and heat exchangers. It is also used to seal steel, aluminum, ceramic, plastic, rubber, and enameled flanges.
INSTALLATION METHOD:
Clean the flange surface of any rust, deposits, and remnants of old sealant. Cut the ends of the tape as shown in Figure 1. It is important that the cut is smooth and free from any protrusions. The cut length should be approximately 25 mm. The cut angle should be less than or equal to 15°. Peel off the protective tape and gradually apply the material from the medium side in front of the holes. Apply the tape as shown in Figure 2. Cut the tape at an angle so that the tape thickness at the joint is approximately 120% of its nominal thickness.
