PMMA
PMMA is polymethyl methacrylate, also known as organic glass. Commercially, it is known by the names: Plexi, PMMA, Plexa, Pleksi, Pleksa, Plexiglas, Metaplex, Perspex, Akrylon, and Akrylon XT. PMMA belongs to the thermoplastic group. This material is characterized by high translucency and UV resistance. PMMA can be tinted, providing a wide range of colors, both transparent and translucent, with glossy or matte finishes. It is available in cast and extruded sheets, rods, and tubes.
PMMA is an easily machined material – processing can be performed by cutting, drilling, grinding, etc. Its thermoplastic properties mean that PMMA can be shaped by bending and thermoforming. Its transparency and relatively low weight mean it is often used instead of traditional glass.
